Our Journey

UshaDarshan Foundation was established by Dr. D D Arora (Retd.) and his wife, Usha ji, by their daughter & son in law Dr Puja Sarin & Dr Rohit Sarin and by his two NRI sons Dr Vimal Arora & Mr Vikram Arora, who are also the trustees of the foundation. Dr. D D Arora was a noted medical doctor in India whose career highlights are given below.

1952

Graduated from Amritsar Medical College. After completing a house job in surgery under Col Nirmal Prakash, appointed by HP govt as a Gazzetted Medical Officer, Community Development & Extension Training at Mashobra.

1962

Completed DPH from Calcultta University.

1966

Joined the Govt of India in the National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD) in the Directorate of Malaria Eradication, as Asst Director, Assessment.

1968

Travelled on a PG Fellowship in Communicable Disease, for 1.5 years, to PG Medical Institute, Prague, Czech Republic, under deputation from the NICD. On return, rejoined Govt of India as Deputy Commissioner, Family Welfare, Govt of India.

1981 – 1983

Appointed Director of Health Services, Mizoram State, Government of India.

1984 – 1985

Appointed Additional Medical Superintendent, Safdarjang Hospital, New Delhi. Laid out the 20 year plans for the institution, and put the process in place to hugely expand the Safdarjang Hospital, to the premier institution that it is today.

1986 – 1987

After completing mandated tasks and turnaround role at Safdarjang Hospital, rejoined the Government of India as Assistance Director General, International Health, Ministry of Health, Government of India.

1987

Retired from this post.
